“3-STAGE DUAL CAREER PROGRAM FOR YOUNG ATHLETES” MANUAL

“Life After Sport” project deploys a multidisciplinary and committed Consortium of 6 partner organizations spanning 6 different European countries. The partnership represents a Network with a long-term perspective whose members will work on the development of a three-stage training program targeted at 15-18 years old athletes.

The focus of the program is to ensure young athletes’ acquisition of the knowledge and
skills fostering facilitating their employability upon the conclusion of professional sport careers. Athletes often face challenges to combine the sporting career with education, as
they need broad personal and professional relationships, they need to take aware decisions of their own future after a professional sports career.

Therefore, an innovative program namely "3 Stage Dual Career Program for Young Athletes" is developed to support dual careers that facilitates an optimal combination of high-quality training and education to young athletes using face-to-face workshops.

The Education Programme will target athletes between 15-18 years old, special critical age in which sport and professional transitions take place.

The main aim is to facilitate successful preparation for combining the sporting
career of young athletes by bringing them the right supporting training and hence contributing that at a later stage of life they keep a balance between sports training and employment. The project links a series of key activities designed to develop and implement a sustainable training program as the focal point of the project.

In the scope of this manual, the theoretical aspects about Dual Career, Experiential Learning, training flows (which are created during Ambassadors Training hosted by IKOS), supportive tools are collected.

This project is co-financed by European Commission under Erasmus+ Sport Collaborative Partnership Program with 603311-EPP-1-2018-1-BG-SPO-SCP project reference number.
