Check-in / Check-out
Step 1
Check-in
Stand or sit in a circle. Invite each member of the group to share something they "check-in" on. This could be an emotion, a reflection of the previous day, an attitude they brought to this session or something fun like "the animal that represents my mood today". Choose a check-in question according to the group and the purpose of the programme.
Step 2
Individual participants check-in around the circle or in random order. The check-in ends after each person has checked in once.
Step 3
Check-out
Stand or sit in a circle. Invite each member of the group to share something that they "check-out" of. This could be an emotion, a reflection experience, the most important thing they have experienced with the group participants. Choose an exit question according to the group and the purpose of the programme.
Step 4
The individual participants check out either in a circle or in random order. The activity ends when everyone has checked out.
Tips for running this activity online:
1. Ask users to check-in and check-out according to how they are positioned on the video conference screen. You can start with the top left participant and work your way to the end.
2. Alternatively, you can have the facilitator have participants call each other to check-in and check-out.
