Şefik Emre Coşkun was born in 1984 in the Gönen district of Balıkesir. He completed his primary, secondary and high school education in the same district. He completed his university education at Dokuz Eylül University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Public Administration.
He started his professional career at the university where he studied while he was continuing his university education. He improved himself in the field of national and international support in the Project Management and Support Unit of Dokuz Eylul University and continued his professional life in this field. Starting to work at the Near East University as of April 2019, Coşkun has been working on the establishment of Technology Transfer Office, Technology Development Zone, Fab-Lab, Maker Lab and Pre-incubation-Incubation structures within the Near East Research, Innovation and Technology Area (NERITA). He also teaches Project Management and Quality Management, 21st Century Competencies, Time Management and Learning to Learn courses at the Faculty of Health Sciences.
Apart from his professional life, he has many national and international duties. He is a member of the European Union Education and Youth Programs Center (Turkish National Agency) Youth Trainers pool. With the assignments of this unit, which works under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he took part as an instructor in many national and international trainings. He has been working in this pool since 2009. In this field, he gained experience in educational programming with Non-Formal Education and Experiential Learning techniques.
He voluntarily takes part in robotics and technology studies carried out by the FIRST (For Inspiration & Recognition of Science and Technology) Foundation, whose target audience is children and youth. FLL (FIRST Lego League) served as Project Jury, Jury Advisor and Jury Coordinator in many tournaments between 2014-2017. After 2017, he served as the Social Jury and Chairman Jury in the FRC (FIRST Robotic Competition), and as of 2019, he has been working in the FRC National Planning Committee of the Fikret Yüksel Foundation.
He is also the former President of the European Voluntary Service Volunteers Youth Association. Since 2007, this non-governmental organization, which has been actively carrying out projects for young people, has carried out dozens of EU-supported projects and supported more than 600 young people to participate in different volunteer activities in Europe. He still holds the post of chairman.
