I have just received a certificate about Kolb Educator Role Profiles 🙂 The concept of the idea shows itself as in the course progress. It’s like a mini scaled version of “how” and “what” you wanna learn and teach. That might inspire anyone to making schemas or organisations to make their own versions. I have now more about to think and develop my tendency to learning concepts. Thanks for your encouragement people their reflections to share 🙂

To be honest, I have always known that my evaluator part would be the least powerful side of me. However, I wonder how I can make it better or stronger as I couldn’t find the answer by myself.

Ceren, thank you for the question. The evaluator role is best in connecting abstract conceptualization with active experimentation. This means the educator plays a role in using abstract concepts to empower learners to take measurable action in real life. This requires performance standards referencing those abstract concepts. For example, if you teach English, you can use the CEFR Common European Framework of Reference for Languages as a standard and help your learners understand their level. Then support them to set timely goals related to their real-life needs. You can provide feedback and help them make self-evaluations. By practicing this kind of approach, you can master your evaluator role in your programs.

While taking the inventory I had some difficulties to choose an answear, mostly because I was thinking what do they mean and I tried to understand them better. For some it was to easy to choose. Before taking the inventory I tried to guess what role I will asimilate the most and to which one it will be least, I was correct. Does this mean that I know my strenghts and weaknesses?

    My inventory is:

    Facilitator 34%

    Evaluator 28%

    Coach 25%

    Expert 12%

I wasn’t suprised with first and last, but what suprised me how balanced and close one to another are the two in the middle, maybe it is just mine irrelevant philosphical observation, or it also can tell me something?

It is funny, when I tried to list them by importance in some scale of mine for professional development, I put my weakest role as most important and my strongest role as least important. Maybe because what is easy for me makes it less important and for what I strive makes it most important.

All in all, it was really interesting journey, to which I will reflect a lot in future and gave me a lot food for thoughts when thinking about my personal development.

I already finish my inventory. For me in some moment’s it was hard to chose sentence that is closer to me. I am happy and also a little shock about my educator role. I was thinking that I will be more facilitator, but everythink is mostly close to each others.

    My educator style is:
    Coach: 31
    Facilitator: 28
    Evaluator: 22
    Expert: 19

Now it’s a time for learning more about flexibility and how to improve my expert style.
